GIRISH VAIDYA

 

Girish Vaidya born in 1930 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Soon after graduating in Commerce from the University of Bombay (1950), Girish Vaidya worked in the mainstream film industry as Assistant Director (1951-1954). He completed a diploma in dramatic arts from the Indian Academy of Dramatic Arts (1957) and then joined the Films Division (1957-65) as Assistant Director. He then left for London where he did courses in television scriptwriting and television studio floor management (1966). For a period he worked as production assistant with the Short film Group, Rank Organisation (1966-67). On returning to India in 1968 he worked as a freelance writer-producer-director for Films Division and the Government of Gujarat (1968-76). He re-joined Films Division as Director (1976-1980). In 1980 he was promoted to the post of Joint Chief Producer, a post he held till his retirement in 1989. He has also made a feature film Aakrant in 1972. His filmography includes: Ananta, Search, Bhutan On The Wings Of Time, Bapalal Goes to Court, 1500 Crores, Acharya Kripalani (1980), Nehru In Remembranc, Circle Of Red (1985); Raj Kapoor In Remembrance, Dr. K.M.Munshi, Pannalal Patel (1997); Prashnachinha, Nyaya, Itihaas.
