Synopsis: During his whole life, the mythological Sysiphus, transferred to the present, rolls his boulder in front of him until he reaches the summit, where he lets it go down with a great relief before beginning the same operation again. The film offers a view of man's ever-repeated effort and its mechanism, which is, so to speak, the leverage used by him.

VOICES FROM BALIAPAL

Director - Vasudha Joshi / Ranjan Palit Country - India Year - 1988

Synopsis: Voices from Baliapal is a film about a movement of 70,000 farmers and fishermen in Orissa, Eastern India, against the Indian Government's efforts to evict them from their land to set up a testing range for missiles. The voices of the local people, their myths, their songs about their motherland and their parodies of national politicians are used in the film to depict the ideas that have sustained the four-and half year long struggle.

DIRECTOR'S BIO-DATA : Vasudha Joshi: Studied Sociology. Worked from Bombay productions as a researcher / reporter for their news programme on Channel - 4, UK. Returned to India in 1986 and worked as a freelancer for PTI-TV. Since 1988 working on independent documentaries as producer / director. Ranjan Palit: 1982: Diploma in Cinema with specialisation in cinematography from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. Since then shooting and sometimes directing documentaries.
