| Synopsis:
A man dies on his wife's birthday. Before the
guests start arriving, she however decides to go on
with the birthday celebrations as planned. Adults
and children streak about as the man sits dead facing
the television in the middle of the living room, his
dark glasses on! Everyone pretends ignorance. It is
a little grandson who lays bare the fact of the matter.

DIRECTOR'S
BIO-DATA : Joan Gratz is the originator of a
unique clay painting animation form. Joan's claypainted
film and commercials have received mumerous honours,
including two Academy Awards for Best Animated Shorts
(1982) and Best Achievement in Animated Short Films
(1983), a Bronze Lion at Cannes (1988) and iflm
festival awards from countries around thew world.
In addition to her solo work, Joan has also co-directed
and co-produced several animated shorts and has
designed sets and animated effects for some 20 commercial
and education films.

TANJUSKA
AND THE 7 DEVILS

| Synopsis:
Tanjuska is a 12-year-old White-Russian schoolgirl,
with a face like an icon. Two years ago, she stopped
eating, then talking and finally she even stopped
growing. Tanjuska's father a former mechanic at a
textile factory, now lives with Tanjuska in North-East
Estonia in a religious community led by Father Vassily.
Tanjuska's mother and little sister have stayed in
White-Russia, a thousand kilometres away. Father Vassily,
has explained to the family that seven devils, who
have made their home inside Tanjuska are giving her
orders. Only a daily ceremony lasting for hours on
end can force the devils to leave the girl and only
the power of the cross makes these devils shiver.
Tanjuska and the 7 Devils charts the life of Tanjuska
and her family over a year. |

DIRECTOR'S
BIO-DATA : Born 1947, Finland. Pirjo Honkasalo
graduated from the Finnish School 1969 and continued
her postgraduate studies at Temple University, Philadephia,
1971. She has worked as director and script writer
in various features and short films. Untill 1985
she cooperated with Pekka Lehto. She has also published
a book of Short stories: Exit 1987. She worked as
a set designer at Turku city Theatre 1988, wrote
and filmed a five-hour visual setting for Wagner's
opera Parsifal 1991, and worked as a reporter and
photographer.
