Ansah studied at the American Academy of Dramatic
Arts and the American Musical and Denmark Academy.
Initially trained in textile design, Ansah worked
in the United African Company, a Unilever firm in
Ghana. For his academic achievements, Ansah was awarded
a grant to study film production at the RKO Studios
in Hollywood, but before leaving for the US, he studied
theatre design at Regent Street Polytechnic in London.
Ansah's debut feature film Love Brewed in the African
Pot won a number of International awards, including
the Silver Peacock at the 8th IFFI, New Delhi. Ansah
is a Board Member of the Ghana Film Industry Corporation;
Member, National Commission on culture; Abibigromma
Theatre Group of the School of Performing Arts, University
of Ghana, Legon. |

BARRY
PARKER

| Barry
Parker is an animator and professor in the Animation
Department of Sheridan College (Canada), the institute
known for its teaching of classical animation. As
Co-ordinator of Sheridan's International Summer School
of Animation, Parker's contacts with India are very
intimate. At present he is a visiting faculty member
of the Animation Department of the National Institute
of Design, Ahmedabad. Parker first visited India in
1989 as a Workshop Leader at the NID. He also conducted
an animation workshop for the BIFF"92. Many budding
animators have immensely gained in knowledge and skill
through the animation/educational projects and workshops
conducted by Barry Parker. One of his films Great
Whales won the Best Film Award at the New York Animation
Film Festival, 1974. |

B.D.GARGA

| B.D.Garga
went through his peace in the early 50s; six years
with films units in Europe and one year in Mosfilm
Studios, Moscow. He emerged not only as a filmmaker
but also a filmologist, critic and film historian
of repute. He has been visiting lecturer at the Film
& Television Institute of India in Pune, where he
also helped found the National Film Archives of India.
He was a consultant to UNESCO on visual arts and was
on the committee of experts to prepare anthologies
on the history of cinema. Garga's writings have been
published in prestigious journals, including Cahiers
du Cinema and Sight & Sound. He has also contributed
to the American and Soviet Encyclopedias. His short
films have won awards both in India and abroad. |

GOUTAM
GHOSE

| Goutam
Ghose graduated from the Calcutta University, Prior
to plugging into filmmaking, he was a theatre activist
and a photo journalist. He started making documentaries
from 1973 with New Earth, followed by Hungry Autumn(1974),
which won awards at Oberhausen and Leipzig. Two years
later he made Chains of Bondage. In 1979 he entered
the realm of feature films with Telugu film Maa Bhoomi
( Our Lnad) about the Naxalite movement in Andhera
Pradesh. This film won the National Awards for the
Best Telugu Film. Since then, Ghose has been bagging
several prestigious national and international awards
for his films including Dakhal (The Occupation), Paar,
Antarjali Yarta (The Voyage Beyond) and Padma Nadir
Majhi ( Boatman of the River Padma). His lates film
Patang (The Kite) was shown at the Indian Panorama'94,
25th IFFI, Calcutta. |
